FASHION: La Perla Introduces Menswear at Paris Store Relaunch

The luxury lingerie label, La Perla, has unveiled a new Paris space that features the brand’s new menswear collection.

La Perla's new store concept launched at the label's historic boutique at 20 rue du Faubourg St Honoré. This 230 square meter space is split over two floors, and now features a special corner dedicated to the brand's first ever menswear collection. This collection will launch in Spring/Summer 2015.


La Perla’s menswear collection was first debuted at this summer's Pitti Uomo event in Florence. The collection, designed by Emiliano Rinaldi, features a mix of luxury home wear from silk kimonos to cashmere tracksuits, and super chic two piece sleepwear sets.


The store concept itself was created by Italian architect Roberto Baiocchi who has also worked on boutique designs for Prada and Miu Miu. Key features include a Portuguese marble floor, Italianate arches and artistic touches, with window displays fitted with pink onyx.

FASHION: Interesting Facts On Fashion's Favorite Rebel VIVIENNE WESTWOOD



Largely responsible for bringing modern punk and new wave into the mainstream, not only is Dame Vivienne Westwood a fashion designer, activist and businesswoman, but also most certainly a fashion mastermind. 

Punk pioneer Vivienne Westwood is undoubtedly one of Britain’s most recognizable living icons and has left a clear mark in the fashion world, as well as in other areas. Her contributions to modern times are not only creative but also political and cultural. 

Get to know the fashion world’s favorite rebel with these interesting facts of her life and career.


  1. She was born Vivienne Isabel Swire 

    She became Vivienne Westwood when she married Derek Westwood. The marriage only lasted 3 years.
  2. Vivienne is a war baby. 

    She was born during World War II on April 8, 1941 to working class parents in Tintwistle, Derbyshire, England. She lived in a part of the country that had grown up in the Industrial Revolution. She didn't know about art galleries, seen an art book, nor been to the theatre.
  3. She almost gave up fashion and art

    Vivienne started sewing clothes for herself at the age of 12 and studied fashion and silversmithing at the University of Westminster’s Harrow School of Art at age 17. But after only 1 term, she left to study at a teacher-training college and eventually became a primary school teacher. Reason why she left the university - she didn't know how a working-class girl like herself could possibly make a living in the art world.
  4. Fashion still calls for her.

    Even as a teacher, Vivienne still was able to create her own jewellery, which she would sell at a stall on Portobello Road. She even made her own wedding dress for her wedding with Derek Westwood. After her split with Derek, she met art student and soon to be music business maverick Malcolm McLaren and he became her business partner and lover for 10 years. 
  5. Vivienne Westwood is the Godmother of Punk 

    Malcolm opened doors for her in the fashion and art world starting by dressing up the punk rock band that Malcolm managed, the Sex Pistols. The partners soon opened a boutique on King's Road in Chelsea and called "Let It Rock", later known as "Sex", then as "Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die", "Seditionaries" and lastly “Worlds Ends”. When it opened, the shop proved to be an important fashion and cultural centre for the punk movement, which began in the 70’s in the UK, then spread around the world, and is still very much alive today.
  6. A Fashion Mastermind continues to evolve

    After the punk era, Vivienne experimented with other themes in the early years of her career starting with her main women’s ready-to-wear line entitled “Pirate” that offered a romantic look which burst onto the fashion scene of the British capital and ensured the collection’s place in history. Her following collections took inspirations from diverse sources such as the film ‘Blade Runner’, the desert landscape, undergarments and Tokyo’s neon signs. She dubbed the period in her career from 1981 to 1985 as "New Romantic" and the one from 1988 to 1992 as "The Pagan Years". During the latter period, Vivienne’s heroes changed from punks and ragamuffins to ‘Tatler’ girls wearing clothes that parodied the upper class. 
  7. She does the unexpected

    Fast forward to present day… 2014 was a big year for Westwood. She designed not only the new Virgin Atlantic uniforms but also beloved pop culture icon Miss Piggy's wedding dress for the Disney film 'Muppets Most Wanted'. The highly anticipated wedding of Miss Piggy and her groom Kermit the Frog took place at the Tower of London where the bride walked down the aisle in a Vivienne Westwood long ivory court wedding gown, with corset detailing and paillettes made from recycled plastic bottles.
  8. She’s a Rebel with a Cause

    Vivienne often uses her catwalk shows, especially for her menswear and Red Label lines, as platforms to campaign about issues that she supports, such as climate change and Scottish independence. During London Fashion Week in September 2014, for her Red Label Spring/Summer 2015 collection, she sent her models down the runway wearing ‘Yes’ badges, proudly showing her wish for Scotland to break away from the UK. So it is no surprise that Vivienne was inducted into the Scottish Fashion Awards Hall of Fame for consistently used Scottish textiles and fabrics within her collections as well as for the significant impact she has made for campaigning for human rights and environmental issues.


Vivienne Westwood’s distinct point of view and passion are very much unique and worthy of praise, as she has shown throughout her career which so far spans over five decades. To this day, she remains as one of the most sought-after and influential designers, inspiring other brilliant and creative minds such as Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano. She has dressed everyone from the Sex Pistols, to the Princess of Wales and many of today’s most iconic celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Marion Cotillard, just to name a few.

FASHION: 15 Year-Old Czech Model Crowned New Face Of ELITE

In the 31st Annual Elite Model Look Contest finals, held on Tuesday in Shenzen, China, 15-year-old model Barbora Podzimkova from the Czech Republic was crowned the next face of Elite Model Management. 

The prize was a much sought after three-year contract with the agencies of the Elite Group. Barbora competed with finalists from the Elite Model Look contests all around the world for this global title.

This year’s competition was overseen by Victoria da Silva, the president of Elite Model Look International, and Vick Mihaci, the president of Elite Model Management. Even world-famous and internationally known supermodels, such as Cindy Crawford, Gisele Bündchen, and Sigrid Agren have not been able to win the global finals. 

Barbora: a Name to Remember 

Age 15 and measuring 5'11" tall, the Czech model Barbora Podzimkova prevailed over 42 young rivals as this year's international winner. As a result, her pouty lips and slender silhouette are sure to make an appearance in ad campaigns and on the catwalk in the near future.

BEAUTY: Meet Estée Lauder’s newest model, Kendall Jenner.



Nineteen-year-old Kendall Jenner was unveiled as the latest face of Estée Lauder over the weekend, but what's behind the LA native's sudden rise?


The American model, who is part of the Kardashian family, famed for their reality TV show, will star in a new campaign for the beauty brand and was shot on the back of a motorbike for the print images. There's also a two-minute film, which explore's Kendall's relationship with the brand and her pleasure at becoming "a part of this family." If that's not enough Kendall for you, you can also shop her edit of the brand's collections on a special section of the Estée Lauder site. 


Kendall has suddenly jumped into the fashion A-league in 2014. Her runway debut came early this year in the Fall/Winter 2014 shows, in which she walked for Marc Jacobs in New York City and then followed up with the Giles show in London. Rocking up in Paris for her first ever season on the runway, she then managed to bag slots at Givenchy and Chanel (where her big sister Kim Kardashian's connections can't have hurt). She also went on to work with Riccardo Tisci again, appearing as part of an ensemble cast for the Givenchy Fall/Winter 2014 campaign.


During the recent Spring/Summer 2015 fashion weeks this autumn, Jenner walked in shows for Dolce & Gabbana, Pucci, Bottega Veneta and Balmain, among many others, and repeated her performances at Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Givenchy. She's also covered LOVE Magazine and American Teen Vogue. 


What will 2015 hold for the model? We'd imagine the young celebrity will be popping up in plenty more campaigns and shows!

FASHION: Michael Kors Launches New Instagram Feature And Dubai Pop-Up



American designer Michael Kors has launched a new Instagram feature as well as announcing a pop-up in Dubai with a special interactive social media aspect.


If you're a follower of the Michael Kors brand's Instagram account you might have noticed a new #InstaKors hashtag cropping up. It's part of a new project which will allow you to sign up with your email and Instagram handle and have the brand send you an email with a shoppable link every time you 'like' something. It's a tactic that was also unveiled by Marc Jacobs earlier this month. 


Meanwhile, at The Dubai Mall from November 25 to December 2, Kors himself will be present to open a special pop-up store dedicated to the brand's Selma bag. Alongside select pieces from the holiday collection available to buy there will also be a photo booth designed to snap pictures and share them via social media. The bag will also be available in an exclusive 'Blossom' pale pink shade, ahead of its global release with the rest of the Spring 2015 collection.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Carrie Lane


Carrie Lane was born and raised in Montclair, NJ, just outside NYC. At the age of just 4-years old, she auditioned for, and won, the lead of Wendy in Peter Pan. On opening night, Carrie forgot her lines. When she finally found her words, her voice was so small, the audience could barely even hear her. For most, this experience would have resulted in a flood of tears. But, this was not the case for Carrie. The overwhelming joy of simply being on stage and performing dwarfed any negative feelings and in that moment, a star was born.

Beautiful on the inside as well as the outside, Carrie was sought after by the MSA Modeling Agency and immediately offered a contract. Since then she has become the face of Bangz, recently winning a competition for the spa chain’s search for an individual making a difference in their community and who exemplifies the belief that beauty comes from within. The prize was a cash donation to the charity of the winner’s choice. Carrie donated the money to juvenile diabetes, a cause she is passionate about, as she herself suffers from the disease.

Carrie never saw her diagnosis as a struggle, but rather a source of strength and motivating factor to help others through her music. “If just one person likes my music and it helps them find clarity in some aspect of their life, I am satisfied.”

“My favorite thing to write about is the world through my eyes. Nobody views the world through the same lens that you do and therefore you will always have a unique story to tell. One that nobody else has ever heard before.“

In 2013 Carrie started working with TMMA Entertainment. Her team consists of Executive Producers Jarrett Zellea and Jennifer Bernstein, as well as Producer Ron Geffen, and Recording Engineer and Sound Designer Daniel Plante. This team has worked on Grammy Award winning Records and Emmy Award winning Television Shows. The team is currently writing and recording new material for Carrie’s freshman album, scheduled to be released in 2014. Currently, Lane is touring with breakout artists, while continuing to hone her craft in the studio. Lane says of her writing experience, “The biggest hurdle I had to overcome in music is finding my voice and believing that I have one. I never thought I had a voice that anyone would want to hear until I found my inner confidence.”

FASHION: Karl Lagerfeld Designs Hats For Maison Michel



The Chanel creative director has created five new hats for Maison Michel for the Spring/Summer 2015 season. 

As with all the house's hats, the new models -- black rabbit felt and straw hats with black gros grain ribbons -- have got their own names, and Lagerfeld was inspired by his favorite models (all current regulars with the designer's own brand, and his work at Fendi and Chanel). The Kendall features a large brim while the Karlie, Anja, Cara and Poppy models (all reworked versions of caps) come with mini-veils in lace or mesh. 

In a 'selfie culture'-inspired move, models Jamie Bochert and Nadja Bender were captured by themselves, directed by Herr Lagerfeld of course, for the campaign, which is supported by the #maisonmichelbykarllagerfeld hashtag.

The pieces will go on sale from mid-February in Maison Michel sales points.

Fendi Condos


Italian luxury brand Fendi is forming a partnership with Florida developers The Chateau Group to build the Fendi Chateau Residence, a 12-story, 58-unit luxury development in Miami’s Surfside neighborhood. 

The label’s first-ever branded real estate development will be an opulent affair: Each unit will include a Fendi Casa kitchen with custom Fendi Casa cabinets and Gaggenau appliances, while common areas will feature a private restaurant, lounge with a gourmet kitchen, library, business center, ballroom, private cinema and gym. 

The waterfront building will also boast multiple beachfront pools with cabanas, ponds and a relaxation terrace, complete with aromatherapy.

FASHION: Oscar de La Renta Dies at 82

Legendary fashion designer Oscar de La Renta has died, a family member told ABC News. He was 82.

De La Renta was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.

Dominican Republic born, made his name known and got his big break in the 1960's when first lady Jacqueline Kennedy frequented his designs.

MUSE MONDAY: Kim Kardashian

Yesterday Kim Kardashian - West  was spotted out with hubby Kanye and stole ALL of the shine!

She not only wore an AMAZING statement piece top but her overall outfit was 5 out of 5 stars!

I still haven't been able to find out who designed Kims back out long sleeve crop sweat... Which was an ULTIMATE statement piece paired with custom tailored ripped, cut off denim shorts and tan Hermès heels course.

The West are becoming my GO TO FASHION MUSE!

ADVICE COLUMN SO TO SPEAK?



I have thought long and hard about the next thing I want to do and I figured why not just do for others what I do for my friends everyday... ADVICE.

Everyone needs it, whether you or anyone else wants to believe it, we all have something we want someone else input or outlook on.

I believe that I have a unique and diverse outlook on multiple different subject matters and those I don't I will gladly look up to help someone.

My advice isn't for everyone and my writing styles aren't for everyone, but those that I can help I am glad to do so.

Let me forewarn you this in NOT your mommas advice column. I am very upfront and truthful in my approach. I don't believe anyone benefits from sugar coating anything.
With that being said "Let the games begin!"
